As technology grows and becomes more readilly available to everyone, so does the need for security.
Security is one of the largest concerns when it comes to a wired or a wireless network.
Standard security starts with a firewall and a good antivirus solution on every computer in the network. This prevents a virus from spreading, should it penetrate your router's firewall.
Most small network routers will have the ability to use either WPA or WPE wireless security, also most routers act as a basic firewall. While these firewalls are a start, they are far from being the best.
This WPA & WEP wireless security can prevent most people from accessing your network. These services come in 64, 128, and 256 bit encryption.
To most people the above paragraph will mean absolutly nothing. To some it up, the basic wireless security that comes with most, if not all routers, will be plenty of security for home and small business to keep out unwanted people from their network and internet connection.
Please keep one thing in mind, the security for your wireless network will keep out hackers and unwanted people, but this security does not keep out viruses and other malicious software.
Believe it or not, most malicious software such as viruses or spyware are actually allowed in by YOU, the user. These files can be aquired by many different ways, such as: email attachments, downloaded files or music, or simply visiting some
websites can put malicious files on your computer.
